This week one of my colleagues sent me a link to a press release titled Internet Marketing Company BlindMonkeyMedia Elects Board of Directors.  A new online marketing company that conducted their stakeholders' meeting using Dimdim.

Blind Monkey Media logoI reached out to learn more and emailed with their president, Frederick Saint-Jacques.  He provided more  information on the company and their use of Dimdim.  BlindMonkeyMedia is a very small corporation with 30 share owners around the world (Philippines, Panama, Costa Rica and the United States).

"Since most of the people that work for us are located across the globe, we needed a way to communicate.  MSN MSGR (Messenger) is fine for quick chats about work but we often resort to Dimdim because its easier to show our work and our ideas through your website software"
-Fred

Fred explained, as a new company with a small budget, it made sense to conduct the meeting using web conferencing.  Even if they had arranged an in-person meeting, their share owners in Asia would likely not have been able to attend.

"Today, internet technology and just technology in general allows people that are scattered around the world to meet in real time at a tiny cost to the users.  So it would have been foolish for BlindMonkeyMedia, a new corporation with a small budget not to use that technology to cut down on cost.  We are just glad that Dimdim was available because it made our first ever shareholders meeting a very smooth and practical experience."
-Fred

The Dimdim board regularly meets via Dimdim, it's great to hear other companies are extending their Dimdim use beyond traditional web conferencing to creatively find better (more affordable) ways to get things done.

Thanks!

It's the worst job market in decades, start a new business?!?!

It’s been called the biggest job crisis of the last half-century (Worst year for jobs since '45, CNN), a head-numbing economic freefall that seems to have no end.

With the jobless rate climbing to 7.2 percent in December 2008 (Jobless rate jumps to 7.2 percent in December, MSNBC), a growing number of unemployed workers are thinking now is the time to set out on their own. Even those with jobs are contemplating exit strategies in this increasingly uncertain job market.

This post isn't to announce a new business venture, rather it's to help those interested in taking a more entrepreneurial approach in addressing these troubling economic times.  We've partnered with Sramana Mitra and Simply Hired to organize a free webinar where Sramana will discuss all aspects of entrepreneurship.  For those who don't yet know Sramana, she's a successful entrepreneur, Forbes columnist, and author of Entrepreneur Journeys (more on her bio page).

This free webinar is at 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST) Wednesday Jan. 14. To learn more and register:
